Boasting over 5,000 students, a quarter of which progress on to Post Graduate studies, the University of Portsmouth Business School designed a new form of classroom, in the form of their TEAL Studio (Technology, Enhanced, Active, Learning). The Business School is also the home of 1400 international students who collectively come from 100 countries. With 250 staff, it is a growing school within the university.
As part of their strategy to create a first class learning facility, the University invested in both 65″ and 84″ iBoardTouch interactive touchscreens for each table within the studio, to help students work both individually and as part of a group. This allowed the students an opportunity to display their work to their peers seamlessly and foster more interactivity during the lessons.
A new type of classroom, the TEAL Studio is a room of specially designed tables to seat nine students. The premise behind this, is they are able to break in to groups of three should the need arise. The key benefits are that it allows students to collaborate, present and share their work. The TEAL Studio uses iBoardTouch tech to merge lectures, simulations and desktop experiments.
